Server-based Curator for Museums

A number of people face difficulties in speech and hearing.Hearing Loss is unmeasurable.People with hearing loss are not completely deaf. Ordinarily they show varying degrees of hearing loss at varying frequencies in both ears.Although this fact is obvious, its implications are often overlooked for a variety of reasons that include a lack of interest in maximizing hearing by some people who are deaf, and often,a lack of understanding about modern technology that improves auditory skills.People who are hard of hearing require a volume increase of 15-25 dB in order to achieve the same level of understanding as people with normal hearing. This can be in settings like schools, museums, etc.I ve identified Museums as one such epicenter where people with hearing disability are forced to deal with external noise factors which further worsen their condition. The deaf and dumb find it difficult to communicate and collect information around them. These kind of people only understand standard sign languages(ASL).There was an urgent need to address this problem and hence one of the most efficient ways to achieve this has motivated me to design and develop the "Server-Based Curator for Museums".

The National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) is the first and largest technological college in the world for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. As one of eight colleges within the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, New York, NTID provides academic programs, access, ASL in-class interpreters and support services including on-site audiological, speech-language, and cochlear implant support. As of winter quarter 2007, NTID encompasses 5% of RIT's enrollment, or about 799 students. There are also 492 deaf and hard of hearing students are cross-registered into another RIT college's program with support from NTID.

Electronic Properties Of Multi

This Advanced Study Institute on the Electronic Properties of Multilayers and Low Dimensional Semiconductor Structures focussed on several of the most active areas in modern semiconductor physics. These included resonant tunnelling and superlattice phenomena and the topics of ballistic transport, quantised conductance and anomalous magnetoresistance effects in laterally gated two-dimensional electron systems. Although the main emphasis was on fundamental physics, a series of supporting lectures described the underlying technology (Molecular Beam Epitaxy, Metallo-Organic Chemical Vapour Deposition, Electron Beam Lithography and other advanced processing technologies). Actual and potential applications of low dimensional structures in optoelectronic and high frequency devices were also discussed. The ASI took the form of a series of lectures of about fifty minutes' duration which were given by senior researchers from a wide range of countries. Most of the lectures are recorded in these Proceedings. The younger members of the Institute made the predominant contribution to the discussion sessions following each lecture and, in addition, provided most of the fifty-five papers that were presented in two lively poster sessions. The ASl emphasised the impressive way in which this research field has developed through the fruitful interaction of theory, experiment and semiconductor device technology. Many of the talks demonstrated both the effectiveness and limitations of semiclassical concepts in describing the quantum phenomena exhibited by electrons in low dimensional structures.
